Our first of four Art Walks for 2011 went well with very nice weather. Special thanks to FFWD, Shine FM, CTS TV and the Calgary Herald for helping us to get the word out!

April 8, 11 - canadian artists for the poor announces 4 Art Walks this summer! The first Thursdays of June, July, August and September.

January 25, 11 - canadian artists for the poor welcomes Kimberly Buckley on to the Board as Treasurer. Welcome!

February 4, 10 - canadian artists for the poor announces Calgary Art Walk 2010. This great cultural event will be taking place August 19th on Stephen Avenue, downtown Calgary.

January 7, 10 - canadian artists for the poor is excited to welcome Katrina Ketchum to the Board of Directors as Director of Communications!

September 9, 09 - canadian artists for the poor hosts Calgary Art Walk 2009 on Stephen Avenue downtown. With 29 artists participating and thousands of people walking by, it was a great cultural event!

June 15, 09 - canadian artists for the poor appears in the Calgary Herald!

Apr 15, 09 - canadian artists for the poor announces their next big event - an Art Walk in Calgary on Stephen Ave. 09 09 09 (September 9, 2009)! Many local artists will be creating on site!

Mar 15, 09 - our second event goes off with a bang at the Blackfoot Inn in Calgary, AB. With 60 participating artists and over 100 art pieces available, we brought in close to $6,000 (doubling our first event). Thank you to our sponsors and CTV and CityTV who showed up to give us some media attention.

Mar 14, 09 - canadian artists for the poor's Executive Director Julie Chandler appears live on Global TV's Morning Show!

Mar 2, 09 - canadian artists for the poor has hit a milestone! As of today, we have 50 artists who have contributed pieces of art to us.

Feb 09 - due to a sharp increase in the number of visits and hits to our website, canadian artists for the poor is forced to get more bandwidth!

Feb 10, 09 - We are excited to announce that on Tuesday, February 24, canadian artists for the poor's Executive Director Julie Chandler will be interviewed by Natalie Faith for a new TV program called 'New West Weekly' aired on CTS. The show will be aired throughout the week of Feb 28.

Feb 2, 09 -
canadian artists for the poor has secured our first artist outside of Alberta! Cherie Hanson of Kelowna, BC will be participating in our upcoming fundraising event with a painting called 'Cold Feet'.

Jan 30, 09 - Our radio ads have started playing on 88.9 ShineFM - donated by the Chandler Radio Network. Thank you!

Oct 27, 08 - Announcing Art Classes! We will be listing various art classes available to the public on our website - starting with a watercolour class taught by Janice Blaine.

Oct 22, 08 - We have secured a larger location for our next fundraising event which will be taking place on Sunday, March 15 - at the Blackfoot Inn - Heritage Room. We're looking forward to more artists getting involved and more attendees enjoying the fine art!

Oct 6, 08 - canadian artists is pleased to announce that our first fundraising event on the 4th brought in over $2500 for charities working with people living in extreme poverty. With many artists in attendance, it was also a great opportunity to meet the talented individuals who have given art for the cause!

Oct 4, 08 - We host our first of many fundraising events and raise over $2,500 - at Venturion Art Gallery in Calgary, AB.

Sept 23, 08 - We have started to attract artists outside of the Calgary area with Rose-Marie Cameron of Bonnyville, AB (north east of Edmonton) mailing in the painting 'Celestial Moon'.

Aug 26, 08 - It's official! canadian artists for the poor is registered with the Government of Canada as a non-profit organization.
